Doing more for the community

14/6/2016

Inpress Plastics looks to encourage future generations to show interest and passion in subjects including; Science, Technology, Engineering  and Mathematics (STEM).

We encourage our employees to demonstrate their expertise to a wider community, hoping to inspire the next generation to develop their skills in these essential areas. We strongly believe that STEM related professions help to build communities and transform nations, while solving the complex problems of today’s world and its future.

One of our employees representing STEM as an ambassador visited a local school, Littlehampton Academy, to educate students and staff about product design and the benefits of using Computer Aided Design (CAD) to develop products further.

Lens Cutter Project tested In Africa

1/1/2015

Mission for Vision began testing a bespoke spectacle and lens concept for use in rural Africa. Inpress were asked to design a rugged, portable lens cutting machine that enables lenses to be produced in remote village locations. Correction of vision impairment caused by astigmatism and anisometropia allows villagers to return to work and earn a living. The prototype lens cutter has been successfully used on a recent mission to the Congo, where the team saw over 1000 people.

IPLD at the Plastics Industry Awards

1/9/2014

IPLD has been nominated by the Plastics Industry Awards for its work on the innovative Alpha A sign with client Viz Reflectives.

The ground breaking sign allows roadworks crews to take fewer signs out on their trucks, thereby reducing weight, fuel consumption and operating costs. The unique interchangeable system allows different sign faces to be used, meaning fewer bases can be carried.

The blow moulded base was designed to be light, to stack very flat and to provide very little wind resistance, making it extremely stable. Its rugged durability was proven with tests at 30mph by a three ton truck! The modular system also means only the sign face need be replaced when damaged, rather than the whole sign.

IPLD has also been nominated for Young Designer of the Year. So fingers crossed on Awards Night!
