Inpress Plastic STEM to Steam!

5/9/2018

Improving futures

Inpress Plastics is promoting STEM-related careers by accepting high degree apprenticeships with the University of Chichester.
“If we can take local students, children that have grown up in the area and then we can educate them in science, in business in engineering and then we can have them back in our community that’s a win win for everybody involved”. Henry Powell (Client Director)

“For people my age and from my area there not many opportunities like this and to be offered (an apprenticeship) by companies so close by that is doing so well such as Inpress Plastics is, and to be paired up with a great university like Chichester is really good for me and I’m enjoying my experience”. Conor Stevens (Degree Apprentice)

Inpress Plastics commits to green waste management

11/6/2017

Inpress Plastics has signed a new agreement with Rabbit Waste Management which runs an ISO 1400 certified waste management plant.

“This is another important step in our commitment to a sustainable environment.  By working with Rabbit we are ensuring that our waste is either recycled or used for responsible energy generation.”-Henry Powell (Commercial Director)

Rabbit delivers an eco-friendly waste management solution by the following process;
  • All waste collected by Rabbit is processed through a fully automated materials recovery facility to remove all recyclable substances: soil, bricks and hardcore go to the construction and aggregate industries; metals are sent directly to metal merchants and plastics are baled prior to going to specialist plastic pre-processors
  • The remaining, non-recyclable materials are then finely shredded and screened to remove any additional metals before being burnt, in a fully automated and closely monitored process, to generate super-heated steam which drives high-pressure turbines which, in turn, drive a generator to produce up to five megawatts of green electricity
  • The exhaust from the combustors is treated through a cooling process and filter plant, with all emissions being maintained below permitted levels and monitored 24/7 – even the ash produced is recycled into aggregate.
